Hi again!
The 4th. of July is a fun time, but it can also be a really scary and dangerous time for us pets.
So here are some tips to keep us safe:
Never use fireworks around pets!
Exposure to lit fireworks can potentially result in severe burns and/or trauma to the face and paws of curious pets! Even unused fireworks can be really dangerous. Many types contain potentially toxic substances, including potassium nitrate, arsenic and other heavy metals. So please, keep an eye on us!
Loud fireworks displays are no fun for pets.
Please resist the urge to take us to Independence Day festivities. Instead, please keep us safe from the noise in a quiet, sheltered and escape-proof area at home. Fireworks are really loud and really scary to us! Your Mom or Dad may even want to ask one of the Veterinarian's for sedatives to keep us calm during celebrations.
Never leave alcoholic drinks unattended where pets can reach them.
Alcoholic beverages have the potential to poison us. If ingested, we can become very intoxicated and weak. And given the chance, we'll try to sip from anything that looks delicious!
Do not put glow jewelry on your pets, or allow them to play with it.
The luminescent substance contained in these is highly toxic! Causing us to drool and even have gastrointestinal irritation problems. An intestinal blockage can even occur too from swallowing pieces of the plastic containers. They may look really cool, but not a good thing for us to be exposed to.
Hope these tips help keep you safe. Have a fun and happy 4th. of July!
